For a boat to make honorable mention on this page, it must meet or exceed the specifications of the ponton bridge boat.

At least 18' 6" long, and 5' 8" wide at the floor.
Light enough to draft pretty shallow.
Low enough in the water to be more of a fishing or hunting boat, than a ski boat.
Must be "Ugli", which means we are looking for that completely subjective "UG" factor.

1954 - 1959 Cruiser Craft - Phil Dill - Sunbeam Family of Boats

Without the topper, and with a little creativity, this boat may be a fishing machine!

This boat was manufactured by Phil Dill of General Manufacturing Company. Phil Dill Boats is still in business today as a retailer of various brands of boats, although they stopped being a manufacturer many years ago.

General Manufacturing Co. started as a sheet metal fabricator manufacturer serving the drive-in theatre concession industry in the early 50's.

In 1954 Phil Dill was commissioned to develop a line of aluminum boats called the Cruiser Craft. This line consisted of 11 models, one of which was called the Sunbeam Family Cabin Cruiser.

The company built a range of flat-bottom aluminum cruiser models throughout the 1950s. In addition to Cruiser Craft, some models were marketed as Sunbeam Boats.

The one in the bottom pictures is a project I picked up but sold. All I have left of it is a cool little aluminum steering wheel shaped like the big ones on ships.
